Her Majesty The Queen

A historical and sad day - the Queen passed away today at the age of 96. Everyone I know were shocked when they heard the news. No one expected it to happen so soon and so suddenly - she just received and instructed the new PM to form a government on Monday!

Thinking back, I've always been a subject of the Queen - from my birth in Australia, to my earlier life growing up in Hong Kong before the handover, and now as a British citizen. This is a big moment in history and it's crazy to be part of it.

RIP

Update 1 – Tribute from the People – 2022-09-11

I went to Buckingham Palace to take a glimpse at the tributes people left to commemorate the Queen. There was a bit of a queue, but nothing like The Queue for the lying-in-state!

Here's a few pictures I took:

Floral tributes at St James's Park St James's Park – Flowers around fountain

Other tributes at St James's Park St James's Park – Much more than flowers, in the forms of drawings, letters and more

People at the gates of Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace – Everyone wanted a glimpse of the tributes left outside the Palace (including myself)

Trubutes outside Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace – Again, all forms of tributes

Guard at Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace – A Coldstream Guards guard at the Palace

A drawing of the Queen outside Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace – "The Queen"

Patriotic man in a Union Jack jacket outside Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace – A very patriotic man

Tributes at Green Park Green Park – Lots more flowers all over the grounds of Green Park
